We’re also pretty proud of ourselves:

Madison community awards

Since opening in 2014, Short Stack has won 23 awards from local publications, including Best of Madison GOLD for Best Brunch! The Madison community is good to us. We are honored that you take the time to vote for us. Some of our favorite restaurants and chefs in town have never received these awards, and we know that’s not a reflection of their food. Thank you for your support!

Mpower Business Champion, Sustain Dane, 2016

Sustain Dane’s MPower Business Champion program is a one year, fully-customizable program for successful business leaders who believe in building a just economy, and harnessing the power of the business sector to create change. It resonated with everything we believe in, and helped us figure out how to reduce our environmental impact and create a healthier and more engaging workplace.

Silver Level Bike Friendly Business, League of American Bicyclists, 2017-2022

We’re the only restaurant in Wisconsin to have achieved the Silver Award for Bike Friendly Business. Earning this award took 12 months of work auditing our policies, introducing new programs for our employees and customers, and changing our lobbying priorities. We continue to serve on the Just Bikes Committee in Madison, where we fight for bike equity and infrastructure for all.

2018 Nehemiah Business Ally of the Year

Our community partnerships mean so much to us as we support the work of and learn from our community leaders. Nehemiah is always waist-deep in their work to create a “stronger Madison for all,” paving the path for what our community should look like. Over the years, we’ve participated in Justified Anger’s Black History course, partnered with Nehemiah and worked alongside these local heroes to #MobilizeMadison and provoke change. We were humbled to accept this award as allies and friends of Nehemiah.

2018 Wisconsin LGBT Chamber Allied Business of the Year

The WI LGBT Chamber is always working hard to connect, inspire, and activate individuals and businesses with equality and fairness at the center. Inclusivity is at the heart of the work they do, and our values align with this. We’ve hosted the chamber’s Coffee Connections meetings, examined our hiring practices, and put intention into making our space welcome for all. As inclusivity is a work in progress, we always find ourselves asking “what else can we do?” But we are proud to be allies of this chamber and grateful for this award.
